Happy Holidays!
We got our tree early this year because, well, why not? I love the holiday season, and December is also when seniors can start to breathe a sigh of relief—on the college front at least.
Most have hit their early deadlines and have just one or two regular decision applications left to finish up by January. And many seniors have started hearing back from their early application schools too!
I love getting texts sharing the exciting news~ “Abby! I heard back from DePaul and got 25K/year in merit aid!” “I got into Western Washington!” “I was admitted to Northern Arizona and invited to apply for their honors program and scholarship!” “I’m going to NYU for acting!” What fun after all of the hard work of turning in polished, early applications!
December is also when students get to take a bit of a break as well as reflecting on how school has gone so far through the fall
Time to set some goals for the rest of the school year!
Ask yourselves:
- Do I need extra help in math?
- Am I engaging as much as possible in my classes?
- What kind of relationships am I building with my school counselor and teachers?
- Is there a way for me to get more involved with my school or community?
Juniors may have noticed an increase in attention and focus on activities get to know yourselves and what you’re looking for in your college experience. College research and list building have started in earnest and will continue all year with the goal of a healthy balanced list by the end of June.
