May 2021!

It feels to me like May 1st should come with confetti or a mariachi band.

Historically May 1st is “decision day,” and in spite of changes to student recruitment rules, in much of higher ed, this is still true.

As is the case for Garden Shed College Coaching’s class of 2021 seniors who I want to brag on for a moment.

GSCC seniors were accepted on average to 80% of the schools they applied to, ensuring they all had great choices come decision day. Exceptions were highly selective schools with very low acceptance rates and extra large waitlists.

I am sooooo proud of you for keeping things moving through a global pandemic and coming out on the other side with amazing options and solid next steps after graduation!

Garden Shed College Coaching seniors were accepted to:

NYU Cal Poly UC Davis Loyola Chicago UO Honors RIT
UWI Madison Cal Baptist SDSU Santa Clara LMU USC

And are headed to:

Whew!  Aren’t they great?!

Congratulations and thank you for letting me be part of your team!

I can’t wait to hear about all the great things you do next!!

Juniors are turning an exciting corner this spring into summer as they finish up lists and set Defend the List meetings to show off all of their hard work researching and building a mindful list that reflects what they are looking for in college, and is balanced for acceptance likelihood and healthy finances. Over the summer we will start tackling the different components of the applications themselves and set you up to hit early deadlines in November.

Freshmen and Sophomores it’s time to start working on your plan for the summer now that things are opening back up and you have some options!

But first, make every effort to end the school year on a high note. You’re almost there!
