I admit it.
I am totally “that girl.”
I am the one all those FaceBook memes are all about as we turn from summer to fall.
I DO love it when the fall chill starts to creep into the mornings and evenings.
I DO love wearing boots and yoga pants.
I love fall leaves. And pumpkins. And mums. And gourds.
and I DO love a slightly less sweet pumpkin spice latte (extra shot, tall, with 1 1/2 pumps in case anyone reading would like to bring me a treat). The first of which I try to hold out for until my birthday on September 27th. Sometimes not very successfully.
I pulled out my “Folloween” decor box in early September with every intention of doing a little fall sprucing. But I’ll be honest, it’s been a really busy month, and I didn’t get around to doing much.
Even though we don’t have small kiddos at home anymore, and even though I loathe dressing up, we have always loved handing out candy to our neighborhood kids on Halloween while eating Fondue Italiano (with Fritos Scoops of course) and watching the Great Pumpkin. This year Dane wanted to be “the cool house” on the block, so he personally went to the store and bought full-sized candy bars for the kids and mini booze bottles for their parents, and now I fear we’ve started a tradition we can never undo!
At the Garden Shed, seniors are either starting to breathe easier as they have planned, prepared, and finished up early applications with plenty of time to spare, OR are starting to wish they had listened to me last spring, summer, and month as I did my best to prod them along, and are now feeling the crunch time of November 1st approaching.
Juniors have all been onboarded into their strategic research plan, and are trucking along checking out their first or second round of colleges. I can’t wait to finish up my monthly meetings and hear all about what they have discovered about colleges, programs, majors, and careers so far!
Reminder to senior families that FAFSA and CSS Profile open October 1st and my general advice is to try and have them complete and ready to send by Nov. 1st when the first batch of apps are due. See my post from last October with more details and check out these two tips sheets full of great info.
